XP: follow-up questions for OB

Got my follow-up with my OB tomorrow.  Should be doing an ultrasound and discussing my bloodwork results and next steps.  Here are all the questions I have... any more that I should ask?

Note re: testing/treatments... Wouldn't mind getting started on that sort of stuff right away because my $2k deductible has been met for this year and resets at the beginning of the benefits year on 8/1.

What was I tested for?
    Thyroid?
    MTHFR?
What were the results of the abnormal tests?
What is considered the normal range for the results that were abnormal?
Were any tests inconclusive?
Do you think my miscarriages were caused by different factors or the same or similar factors?
Should I consult a specialist (rheumatology, etc) about my positive ANA test?
    Recommendation?
Should I consult a perinatologist/maternal fetal medicine specialist in addition to continuing to see you before or after I get pregnant again?
    Recommendation?
If not, what plan of treatment do you recommend?
Will I need to deliver at a hospital with a higher-level NICU than LCMC?
Have you had other positive-ANA or lupus patients?
Have they had successful pregnancies?  What helped them?
Do I need to do an HSG or endometrial biopsy?
If so, when would you want to do those?
How do you go about treating a luteal phase defect?
What do you think about Clomid or Femara?  Do you do monitor the medicated cycles?
Would it help or hurt to take 200mg of prometrium 3x day once I get a positive HPT?
Are there any other tests that you would recommend at this point?
Any other testing that should be done after a certain number of unsuccessful TTC cycles or a third miscarriage?
What is the other testing and how invasive is it?

What does it cost?

Any other supplements that you would recommend that I take or other nutrition suggestions?
Baby asprin? Extra Folic Acid? B6? B12?
Any activities I should cut out completely while TTC?
What effect do you think that stress and depression has on TTC/pregnancy?
Can we still start trying on the next cycle?
The next time I get pregnant, should we do an earlier ultrasound? More frequent?

Check HCG and progesterone levels more frequently?

I?ve had specific chest pains about once a week for the past three weeks.
Is it related at all to the miscarriage or test results?
Related to lupus (Pericarditis or Pleuritis for example?)
Should I see a specialist or internist?

ask about whether you were tested for hereditary thrombophilias.  that's usually included in the recurrent loss panel.

  • I would ask if (God forbid) you do have another miscarriage, would they recommend testing on the fetus?  My docs office said if I have another they will definitely recommend it.  Even though I've *technically* had 2, the CP didn't really "count" but they usually strongly recommend testing on the baby after your 2nd miscarriage.

That's a good question.  This time around I was told that there wouldn't really be anything to test... that stuff would just come back as me, not as the baby (if that makes sense?).  Last time they just confirmed that the sac I brought in was indeed a product of conception. Though I have to say (TMI alert) the sac did look a bit different this time and seemed like it had been attached to a possible placenta maybe (and this is me pretending to know what I'm talking about).  I didn't save it though.

Adding to the list, thanks!  Though I *think* she mentioned that over the phone... right now I can't remember if she said those tests were negative or that the results hadn't come back yet.  I might need to pull out the voice recorder app at the appt...
