3rd Trimester

Back pain/menstrual cramps

Today I've been having a lot of back pain, and not normal "you've been on your feet too long" type, but constant, achy, dull, menstrual type back cramps as well as some low menstrual cramps in my lower abdomen. I took tylenol, but it hasn't really done much, maybe taken the edge off, but I'm pretty uncomfortable. No contractions, but I assume, I should keep an eye on it and call my OB if it persists past today? I certainly don't think I could go another 3.5 weeks with this pain.

  • You can def call OB; better safe than sorry.  I've had pain off and on, so at least (hopefully) it's not a solid month's worth left for you. Change your actvities, up your water intake and make sure you're eating.  You're entering the final countdown, and it does start sucking....but you're almost done!  :)

  • I had some of that when I was pg with DD around 36/37/38w. I called my MW and her advice was if they became timeable, I needed to call back and possibly go in. It ended up not being labor for me, just my body doing it's thing. Good luck!

  • I've been dealing with that for the last month. It means nothing really unless it's timeable. Try drinking a ton of water too

  • This started for me last week.  I am now 37 weeks and I went to the doctor today and he said it was braxton hicks.  I really didn't agree because this feels TOTALLY different than the normal but he said if it wasn't timeable it wasn't labor and that I was still not dialated at all.  My c section is scheduled for next week and I really wanted it over because it is so painful but my doc said no.  Basically you have to deal with it. :(
  • Thanks, Ladies. The back pain has eased up a bit, thanks to some tylenol and I feel so much better today. Hopefully it's just my body starting to prepare whats to come in the next few weeks.
