NY bumpie looking for Denver hotels

Hello from NY!  My family and I will be visiting Denver next month and we're looking for hotel suggestions.  We would like to stay in downtown near Coors Field or the zoo.  Are there any hotels you would recommend (or any we should avoid)?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    So it's not super close to either Coors Field or the zoo, but one of my favorite downtown hotels is the Hotel Monaco... it's a fun boutique like hotel and they have always provided me great service! Also, it's right next to the light rail and the 16th Avenue Mall!
