What are some of your favorite breastfeeding supplies? I'm planning to get the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra, but wanted to know what else should I get right off the bat? I know somethings like Things like:
-Breast pads (reusable or disposable?)
-Breast cream (like Lanolin?)
-Handsfree bra
-Nursing cover
-Storage bags/containers (do all brands of storage bags work with all/most pumps?)
Anything else?
Re: Rec your favorite breastfeeding supplies!
Here's what I use:
Lansinoh disposable breast pads- I don't leak that much but when I do they absorb well and don't feel wet to the touch. They are disposable. Less laundry for me!
Lansinoh lanolin nipple cream- I use it rarely because thank goodness my nipples seem to be doing really well. I will put it on before I shower and whenever the baby has a major feast that leaves me a little sore
My handsfree pumping bra is an old tube top that I cut 2 small holes in!
Haven't found a nursing cover I like yet...
Lansinoh freezer bags- I haven't had too much experience with defrosting milk in them yet, just building up my stash now.

Yes, Yes, and Yes!
Also, a boppy pillow. It was completely essential to my breastfeeding experience for months.
Nursing tanks. I have rotated between two, a brown and a black, but I would love to have twelve and wear them every single day. With a tank and a t-shirt I have never had to even use a nursing cover!
Which nursing tanks do you recommend? I'm looking for specific brands/products so I can weed out the ones that aren't any good. Thanks!
I really like my Glamourmom nursing tank - it gives me more support than the nursing bra i have. I got another tank from Target that comfy, but doesn't give me enough support to wear it in public without a bra underneath (defeats purpose). I usually wear the target tank to sleep though.
My other 'must have' is the My Breast Friend pillow. It works waaay better for me than the boppy.
I got the Simple Wishes hands free pumping bra and it works really well. After I got it, I saw someone posted about using an old sports bra and cutting a slit in it....which would probably work well too.
Breast pads - I bought some bamboo ones off etsy and love them. I'm not a huge leaker, though. Bamboo is very soft and doesn't stick.
Cream - Medela is good, but the samples I got would have been enough. The tube will last me through all my children and then some
Handsfree bra - I only pump occasionally, so I use rubber bands to hold the flanges. Free.
Cover - rarely use one, just grab a blanket when I do
Pump - Ameda Purely Yours, love it
Pillow - I used the Boppy pretty much every time for the first 6 weeks. I'm over it now, but it was worth it for the beginning.
Tanks - I live in Bravado tanks and like that they're bra sized, not just s/m/l.
Books - I like "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding"

-Breast cream (like Lanolin?)- I like Lansinoh (it is thick which some people don't like, but I do). I also like Earth Mama Nipple Butter.
-Handsfree bra- Pumpease bra. Far superior to the Medela.
-Nursing cover- I have a hooter hider that I use to pump and drive.
-Storage bags/containers (do all brands of storage bags work with all/most pumps?) Lansinoh or Simplisse are the best ones I've tried.

Lansinoh storage bags - makes storing milk in freezer super easy
First Years Milk Storage Organizer - keeps the milk organized
Ameda Purely Yours Pump - I really despise pumping but glad to be using a pump that's comfortable and easy to use
Simple Wishes Handsfree Bra - gives me more motivation to pump
Boppy pillow - used brestfriend in the beginning but was too cumbersome for me
Target nursing tanks
Thanks for the suggestions! Regarding the diapers for burp cloths, do you mean these?: https://www.amazon.com/OsoCozy-Birdseye-Flat-Cloth-Diapers/dp/B0018L146Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1309916881&sr=8-5
I liked these Lansinoh breast pads. Don't buy ones individually wrapped - huge pain in the butt!
I really liked my Nipple Butter for the first 2-3 months. No animal products used. Very creamy and nice smell.
These milk bags are great. They stand up which is nice. And they have a double seal.
You can make a hands free bra by cutting small holes in a sports bra.
Breastfeeding is a lot of work but so worth it.
