Do molars = crankypants?

M was a major crankypants over the weekend. Lots of crying for no apparent reason, which is unusual for him. On Sunday, I noticed his top 2 molars are coming in. Do you think these things are related? He didn't have too many problems getting his front teeth in, but I've heard the molars can be bad.

  • My nephew was getting his 2nd set of molars recently and my sister said it about drove her to drink. (And, fwiw, she said the 2nd set were worse than any of the other teething drama leading up to that point)

So yes, I think that could be the case for M! Good luck! She said a friend recommended sticking an ice cube or frozen banana in a mesh feeder and letting them gnaw on it.

  • That could definitely be the reason.  DD didn't have any problems with her other teeth coming in, but the 2 year molars did bother her quite a bit.

  • Oh, God, yes. J was unbelievably cranky when his molars came in. When his first one came in it was an all-night cry fest that we could only calm by having him sleep on our chests (not next to us! oh, no! only our chests would do!). I can't blame them, though - I remember when my wisdom teeth came in and it hurt like a mother. And I was 20-something.
