WWYD, home alone at 35 weeks PG with kiddo

DH will be out of town on business my 35 PG week.  I wasn't really worried about it because I am planning on starting my maternity leave then and I won't have to worry about getting us to school/work solo.  Then my MIL offered to stay with me (over my mebbe-not-dead-but-very-incapacitated-at-least body) because if something happened she'd be able to take care of J.  Now I can't help but be worried.  Because we are 25+ minutes from any family or friends in a little mountain town and we just moved in and don't know the neighbors at all.  If something did happen it would be sticky dealing with J...does he come along in an ambulance?  Do I wait to get to the hospital for an hour for someone to come get us?  At my appt. today I asked my doc and she was as helpful as I thought - basically do what I feel comfortable with.  I'm thinking of asking my mom come stay with me for the week since my parents would both be coming up the following weekend for J's b-day.  But since she lives 6 hours away and wouldn't drive it herself it's a big ask for my parents and I feel a little silly since I have no reason to believe there will be any issues.  WWYD?

  • I would have my mom stay with me - but then, I'm all for any opportunities to have her stay here!  Assuming you get along well with your mom?  Would your dad drive her, then drive back, then back again for the party weekend?  Could he stay the whole week too?

If you have family 25 minutes away, were it me, I wouldn't sweat it.  There aren't too many labor scenarios that don't give you more than 25 minutes notice.
  • I would love to have my mom with me!  And yes, either my dad would drive her up, leave, then come back for the party weekend or she might fly.  Either way it's expense and time...and she'll be coming back when it's birthing time a few weeks later...  She has the summer off but my dad doesn't so he couldn't spend a week here.

And that's what I was thinking Teri before I got the "in case of emergency" thought thrown at me.  But then I guess emergencies could happen to anyone/anywhere and we can't all have babysitters all the time :)

Maybe I'll just tell her what I'm thinking and see if she seems to really want to come or not...

And holy moley, my tickers are starting to scare me, less than a month until my baby is 3 and less than 2 months until #2 arrives, ahh!
