I scrapbook in 12x12 size, so when it makes sense, I make scrapbook pages of things. However, there are several things that are either won't fit in a 12x12 page or are not a "flat" page. I'm wondering how I should this stuff - I've narrowed down to a small selection, but I figure each year I'll add to it.
Re: Tell me how you organize/save your child's artwork?
I keep meaning to do this.
Yep, I've heard of this...but call me old fashion, I think it looses something by just taking a picture of it. My mom saved some of my artwork from my early childhood and it's so neat to hold it/touch it, hence I'd really keen to actually keep it as is.
Are you saving everything?
Why don't you take pictures of most of it and keep your favorites? I don't have room to keep all of my DD's stuff, and honestly the stuff of mine that I do have, is all faded and falling apart. So, I would rather my mom have taken pictures of it.
As a scrapbooker myself, I have taken to scanning in what artwork I can and then photographing anything larger and that way I have photos of everything he has done at school that comes home...even from preschool and then when I scrapbook it, I can just print out tiny pics like filmstrip and put a lot on the school pages. So, on my laptop, I have a folder under photos for each school year with all artwork photos.
And I do keep some of the pieces that mean something in a folder like this: it's called My Keepsake Portfolio

Nope - not everything - only my favorites! 90% if not more gets tossed after a rotation on mommy's office art wall.
Each DD of mine has a small plastic box that fits hanging file folders. There's a folder for each year, and I put my favorites in there. I leave some room in the box to save some extra stuff. For example, she came home with a really cute painted tiger mask-- I put the date on the back and put it in the box. She made a robot out of a toilet paper tube-- date on the inside and put it in the box.
It's a Sterlite box like this https://www.usphome.com/catalog/item.aspx?sku=12744&ctype=2&gclid=CIrh_e2C66kCFZQ5KwodHAPdag and at the rate I'm going, I'll probably need to add another for each kid. I have a hard time throwing stuff away, so at this point I'm happy it's contained in one place and semi-organized.
