We are a few weeks into solids with DD. This was always a source of question for me with DS. I never know how much to give. She is EBF and I've already been having some supply issues. So I don't want to mess it up further because of the solids, but I want to give her what she "needs". I know right now the solids are more for practice anyway. I was just reading on kellymom (who says no more than 1 serving of solid a day) and it made me concerned. We are doing the new food in the AM after a bottle of BM or a nursing session; right now we are on veggies. We offer a half serving of cereal with EBM at lunch and again at dinner, both after having had milk first. She doesn't eat much at lunch and has been finishing the dinner cereal. And coincidentally, my supply is worst at dinner/bed time. Am I offering too much? The pedi felt like it was fine, but sometimes I think they don't fully understand how to support a mom who has no immediate plans for weaning. We talked about taking the veggies that she is doing well with and offering a small serving along with dinner cereal....good idea, bad idea? How did you handle solids with your EBF DC?
Also, what was that website for the home made baby food? I can't find it now.
Thanks if you made it this far!
Re: solids
We completely skipped the cereal in favor of fruits and veggies. I didn't really see the point, since I preferred he get calories from milk at that point. Our pedi agreed with our approach. We just fed him after he had had enough to drink.
I used wholesomebabyfood.com and weelicious.com

I didn't start solids until 6 months with Asher and we gave one serving a day for about 2 weeks. He got oatmeal mixed with a fruit or veggie in the morning after nursing. Our doctor suggested we get up to 3 servings a day by the time he was 9 months old. I wasn't in a hurry to up his intake but we quickly realized he was a food junkie. He eats 3 meals a day plus takes in as much breast milk as he always did...maybe more. He is a tank.
I guess my point is, do what you have been doing and make sure she is fulled up with BM before you offer solids. I don't think 3 meals a day is too much but i am sure she would be okay if you cut it back to one or two for a little bit if you are worried about supply. I would kind of let her lead the way.
