Weekend Highs and Lows?

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend, I know I did!  It was great to have 3+ uninterrupted days with DD & DH.  We took advantage of our time together and had a ball!  Want to share a high and low (or 2) from the weekend?

Highs: Taking DD to see her first fireworks.  I think she really enjoyed watching them but was unsure about the noise (we were really close to them).  I think next time we'll bring her hearing protection.  BBQ at our friends on Sunday, it was just great to see our friends and hang out.  Going to the horse races yesterday with my Mom, sister and niece...I love watching Stella and my niece play, Stella just adores Natasha, it's adorable!

Lows: DD's diaper rash came back and she cried at most diaper changes and wouldn't sit in the bath on Sunday.  Poor thing.  Also, DH & I are both battling this weird cough/tickle in the throat.  DH is worse than me but it's no fun.

Re: Weekend Highs and Lows?

  • Boo to diaper rashes!  :(

Lows:  I was in a "mood" on Friday night.  I hate when I get like that, but sometimes my hormones just start to rage and I have trouble breaking out of it.  :(

Highs:  Took L to a family friends on Saturday and he spent 4 HOURS in the pool!  Which means DH and I spent 4 hours off and on in the pool but it was totally worth it!  He loves the water.  He put his face right in, and was jumping off the side into me right away.  No fear!  DH and I went and saw Bad Teacher.  It was good! Not amazing, but pretty funny!

  • Highs: Saturday we just had a family day by the pool...so much fun! Sunday we had great friends over to bbq, and even though the weather didn't cooperate, we still had such a good time. And last night we took the girls to see fireworks for the first time. Chelsea put her hands over her ears but otherwise loved them, and Molly was SO excited! She kept yelling "ah" and "oh" and clapping. It was so cute! We went with some friends and had a lot of fun. Oh...and we got our front yard flower beds weeded and planted finally!

Lows: I'd say just the weather on Saturday! It really was such a fun and relaxing weekend!

  • Highs - On Saturday I met up with friends from the LGBT board in Massachusetts which was definitely the best part of the weekend.  I also hanging out with DD, going to breakfast with her, taking her to a parade, etc.

Lows -  Not having any friends or family nearby for the holiday weekend.

  • Highs: Brianna turned TWO, took her out to CiCi's (her favorite) and the bouncey house place for her actually b-day. Then had a party on Sunday. Got to see DH's twin niece and nepphew, Bri is so sweet and gentle to babies, and they are cute little tea pots. Just 4 months old (2 1/2 months adjusted age) and over 15lbs each! We went to the beach, swimming @ grandma's house and to the fireworks! Plus, I went sale/clearance shopping and bought B a TON of super cute dresses for next summer for super cheap! Lows: The kids are cranky and exhausted from the weekend. My mom had to make a scene at B's party, (she ALWAYS does this) she loudly, sarcasticly questioned my parenting choice when I gave something to Ty instead of battling him over it. I just wasn't going to have a 3-4 hour battle with him in the middle of Bri's birthday party!
  • That cough must be going around - the whole family has it right now!

Highs:  Taking K to the beach yesterday and watching him laugh and have so much fun in the water.  That kid cracks me up.

Lows:  K refusing to nap yesterday and then waking up at 3:15am this morning...and my H deciding HE was too tired to go to work today.

  • highs: spending lots of time w/ my boys... taking Evan to his first movie at the drive-in to see Cars 2... swimming all day on Sunday.... the gorgeous weather ALL weekend long... lots of yummy food

lows: Evan only sat through about 1/2 of Cars 2 before he started getting overtired/cranky so we left early. We were supposed to watch the fireworks at my parents house last night... my mom claimed you could see them perfectly from the backyard, but we didn't see anything. Evan would have loved them too, but at least her neighbors put on a good show next door. Evan kept saying "oh, boom!"

  • Highs: Gorgeous weather! 3 well behaved babies enjoying the sunshine. Swimming in my in-laws heated pool.

Lows: I ate SOOO much junk food and lots of beer so my stomach is a mess today. Also, Justin had the stomach bug Thurs/Fri so he just wasn't himself all weekend. He was good but I missed his wacky-hyper self.

  • Highs: My dad was here visiting, so we got to spend some nice family time.  We did a bunch of stuff in the nursery- hung up some decorations, set up the crib, ordered a glider, and did a huge shopping trip at the baby stores yesterday.

Lows: Rosie isn't sleeping so great- she's been getting up at night and waking up early.  I don't think I know anyone whose kid didn't have sleep problems  before a new baby comes, but it's exhausting!  Also not helping is the fact that I peed 6 times last night (thankfully 3 of the times were before I fell asleep, so they didn't wake me up.)  That's the last time I have a ton of watermelon before bed.

  • Highs: Prenatal massage, taking Gavin to see his first movie, and going to Build-a-Bear to make something for Baby Sister.

Lows: Gavin took a tumble down some steps at a friends' house on Sunday because I had to pee so I didn't walk him down...felt like a bad mommy!  Having contractions last night at the restaurant...no fun.  And, Gavin was driving me crazy and I snapped at him which in turn made me cry on the way home because I told DH I felt like a bad mom since I'm losing my patience with him.

  • Highs: Buying carpet for the new house and a lawn tractor. The lawn tractor is more of a high for my husband. Actually going grocery shopping with the whole family, which is more fun than grocery shopping alone. DD learned how to say ear this weekend! She also grabs my ear while saying it.

Lows: DD is cutting a molar. :( And she did not enjoy the people in the neighborhood shooting off fireworks on Saturday and Sunday night. I could use some more sleep.

  • Highs- We went to the 4th of July parade on Sunday and I also drove to batavia with Natalie to meet with a friend.. It was a nice day.. Yesterday was also nice because we just hung out around the house and laid low.. I needed it.

Lows -I ended up having an anxiety attack on Sunday night. I don't really know why.. DH had friends come over for the fireworks and they ended up staying super late.. and I was dealing with a screaming Natalie the whole time they were here.. I just wanted them to leave..  And DH was drinking and I wasn't really.. so he was really non-understanding.. When we went to bed, I just started freaking out.. I feel like I'm not the best mom to either of my kids.. I lose my patience and yell and I shouldn't.. and I felt really overwhelmed.. I felt better in the morning and have been making a concious effort not to yell at Eve, but then last night i was having anxiety ABOUT my anxiety.. like I'm afraid it will get worse..

  • We had an overall awesome weekend.  Only one low.

Highs: Went to the farmers market Sat morning, played all day outside, then friend's bday party in the evening.  Sun had another birthday party, then went to seabreeze after naptime.  Monday: Played outside, went to the local Chil-E festival, then ate oven-made smores on the couch while watching fireworks.

Low:  At the chil-e fest, they had a bunch of blow up bounce house activities.  I took dd down the big slide on my lap.  I was wearing mesh shorts and they rode up, and I have a horrible brushburn on my butt.  Like seriously bad.  Blistered and everything.  Plus I see my OB on Thursday so I'm sure it will look lovely by then.
