Anyone have any survival tips for me? H's parents are coming for 6 weeks so we can delay daycare as long possible. I am really nervous about it, but know we need them to come and help out so I can go back to work (I MUST go back to work). Right now we have enough childcare coverage with them, me, H, my mom and a friend to get through to Nov. 1st with no daycare.

Re: Family coming to stay for extended time (4+ weeks)
Alcohol? Good luck. It's for a good cause...but yeesh. 6 weeks is a long time (houseguests are like fish....they start to stink after the 1-2 week timeframe, IMHO).
At around the halfway mark, you can "send them on a mini vacation" for a night or two at a nearby tourist destination as a thank you for their time and effort. That way, it will give you a break and thank them at the same time.
My mom is coming for three weeks this weekend. My survival tips include to utilize her baby sitting services as much as possible. I plan on re-connecting with DH, seeing some friends, and of course, seeing Harry Potter.

I think alcohol is going to have to be it because they don't really speak English. I mean, they DO, but it is not their 1st language. Even though they are fluent, they get flustered easily when they are out and about. So, sending them on a "mini-vacation" is not going to work. Plus, they are not the "vacation" type. They've never taken a vacation. Their "vacations" when H was young included going to Cape Cod for the day (because why would you pay for a hotel when you can just drive an hour and a half home) and going to Portugal to visit family.
Yup, I'm screwed.
They are very "Frank and Marie Barone". The good things: my house will be spotless, small projects will be done (because FIL will be bored), and I will have dinner waiting for me when I get home from work each day.

Perhaps we should exchange e-mails so we can vent. LOL!
