So my cousin had her baby and named him Chase. Well she was trying to do multiple things and asked me to fill out the forms on his name while we were sitting there. I was joking that I was going to write down a completely different name since I had the pen and paper (but she knew I would never do that). So I said "first name?" and she said "Chase". Then she gave me the middle name and the correct spelling (he is named after someone). After I was done, she looked at it and said "You spelled Chase wrong....it is C-h-a-c-e..." All I could think of was that was the ugliest spelling. She kept saying that was the spelling that she wanted and she thought I knew how to spell it correctly and that is why she didn't give me the spelling of Chase when I was writing it down. I told her I had NEVER seen Chase spelled that way and would just ask them for another form, no biggie, but then she just said "Oh well....it is already written down and spelled that way so lets just leave it...."
I had never seen Chase spelled Chace......is Chace some sort of youneek spelling?!?! If so....at least I spelled it "wrong" in her book and got the correct spelling down for the poor kid. HAHA!
Re: Chase/Chace.....
the actor on "Gossip Girl" spells his name Chace.
either way, i don't care for the name.
I've never seen it Chace and definitely prefer Chase. I think it is kind of strange that she didn't care how it is spelled and just said "oh well.."
This. Weird on both counts.

She didn't care at that point because all of the other family members in the room piped in and said "Chace?! What kind of a spelling is that?!" and then her husband came out of the bathroom and I held up another piece of paper with both "Chase" and "Chace" and said "Which one?" and he started laughing and said "Chase......Chace looks like Chance missing a 'n'...."
I have a cat named Chase, too! He's sitting on my lap right now. My husband named him after a character on 24. It's not a typical cat name, I suppose, but for some reason, it works for him.
Anyway, I've seen the Chace spelling, but I much prefer the Chase spelling.
