Babies: 6 - 9 Months

does your LO have allergies?

how did you know or determine LO had an allergy?  what kind of tests or doctor visits did you have?  does LO take medicine?

i'm suspecting DS may have allergies to something.  he is constantly rubbing his face/nose/eyes as though it's itchy, just like an adult might do if they had an allergy.  it's been going on long enough that i guess i can't ignore it anymore and want to talk to our doc about it, so i'm curious what others have went through with baby allergies!  tia

Re: does your LO have allergies?

  • The pedi said LO is likely to be allergic to things DH and I are when we asked about possible dog and pollen allergies. She also said there weren't any meds she's willing to give for such allergies until LO is at least two.

  • I believe so. Both DD1 and I have horrible allergies and I knew when she was an infant as well. The pedi wouldn't do anything about it or even say she had allergies until she was at least one. She's been on daily Singulair for 2 years now.

DD2 is doing all of the same things that DD1 did.

  • DD rubs her eyes when she is sleepy... I would think with allergies you would have some redness.

  • Pediatricians typically do not support the theory of allergies at such an early age.    We had to switch pediatricians and seek out a pediatric allergist.  If you're not getting the support or answers you need then I would switch doctors and find a good allergist.  There are meds your LO's can take to relieve their symptoms and make life less miserable.  We've been on allergy meds since 5mos. and it's helped a lot.
