I'm cleaning out my closet and filling some bags to take to the Salvation Army. Has anyone else done this since having their LO? I'm hoping it doesn't mean I'm giving up on losing weight, but a BUNCH of my T-shirts are Child Size Large. I honestly don't see how I'll ever fit into them again. And the short shorts. Ugh. Those probably shouldn't have ever happened in the first place.
It just feels weird, though. Sort of like when I was moving here for this professorship and giving away a bunch of clothes because I realized a lot of them were ridiculous for someone my age--miniskirts in every color from Forever 21, etc.
If any of you have done this since being PG, how did you decide what to keep and what to give away? With casual clothes, it's easy for me, but work clothes cost more, so I'm hesitant to go through those. Any tips?
Re: Cleaning out my closet...
Because I've moved several times in the last few years, I've already pared down my clothes by a lot. I never considered myself a clothes horse but was quite surprised at the sheer quantity I went through the first big move.
I'm lucky, I dropped a clothing size after giving birth. Most of what I've been going through has been the baby's stuff. She has already outgrown her NB and most of her 0-3's. I kept some special outfits because I plan on making her a quilt from her 1st year clothes. But with the baby growing and changing so much so fast, I feel it will be a full time job making sure our house doesnt get overgrown with her things. My living room alone has 2 swings, play mat, stroller, bassinet, bumbo chair, bouncer, and any number of other 'things' of hers laying about. Baby books, toys, pacifiers, bobby, bubbles, multiple spit cloths, and the like.
I long for being able to organize her things better, but right now she just needs so much. Everything I listed are things we utilize on a daily basis.
I know exactly what you mean! I have been going through my t-shirts and thinking, "Are there any freaking adult sizes!!??" I also wear youth size large because adult sized t-shirts tend to be too long for me. I believe you and I are about the same size PP (5'2.5", 118 lbs, size 4) and I am not willing to give it all up just yet. SO SAD. I gained 50 lbs with DS#1 and lost it all and got back into my size 4s, but I am so worried I won't be able to this time. This was a repeat C and it just seems like I have a lot of extra belly flab this time around
And last time it took 9 whole months until I could wear all my old clothes! I pulled out an old pair of my size 4petite jeans and just sat there staring at them...Seriously?? How will these hips and belly roll ever fit back into those? But, like I said, I am just not willing to let them go. Maybe one day...
Sorry, I know that was no help whatsoever, more of a vent, but I just had to let you know I know exactly how you feel.
We are body twins, Girlfriend! (Well, you're an inch taller, but yeah.) A woman who owns a T-shirt printing shop taught me the "Youth Large" trick. A Youth Large is the same size around as a small, but 4 inches shorter. Thanks for co-venting with me. If you got back to it, maybe I can, too, but at least the casual child-size clothes had to go. It was making me crazy. I decided not to touch my work clothes...yet. If I even looked at my size 4 petite jeans, I'd cry, I think. I'm wearing my size 14 Old Navy shorts today... (The Bermuda ones that go to my knees ;-)
