We have been doing cereal for about 2 1/2 weeks now and am wondering when we should add veggies? And when we do add them should we just mix it in with the cereal or feed seperate?
We did cereal for a week, then went to peas for 3 days and we are now on carrots day 1. You pretty much just want to do the foods in 1 item block so that if they have an allergic reaction its easy to know which food it was. We do the veggie and cereal separately but alternating bites. But today we mixed in the carrots in the cereal, its really just up to you
We mix the veggies and fruits into the cereal. Mostly because this seems to be Lilly;s preference. She will eat carrots alone, though. I think she just likes the tastes dulled down the first few times.
ETA: we added fruits and veggies about three weeks after starting cereal.
We do a new food every four days. So far I've done, rice cereal, oatmeal, avocado, sweet potato, peas, and today we started prunes. I've only mixed cereal with foods that it would kinda sound good to me - like sweet potato and oatmeal and prunes and oatmeal.
Our doctor said to start with cereal, then introduce yellow veggies, then green veggies, then fruits.
This. We do a week of each one. Like we did a week of rice cereal, a week of oatmeal, a week of carrots, and we just started squash. Although at his morning feeding I still give him oatmeal, then at lunch and dinner give him the veggies. He seems to enjoy his oatmeal and the veggies are intriguing to him right now. Not sure where we'll go after squash.........maybe the green veggies. *gags* They look so gross!
