A good friend of mine had her baby about 5 months ago and she gave me a little tip for avoiding diaper rash!
Everytime she changes her sons diapers, she uses a little old hair dryer to dry him off before putting the fresh diaper on! She said its the friction and rubbing from being wet in the diaper that generally causes the rash. Her OB told her to try using a hair dryer. And in the 5 months she's been changing diapers, not ONE case of diaper rash! She never uses any creams either.
She told me to just get a cheap little hair dryer at a second hand store or something like that and have it by the changing table.
I'm going to try it out.
Do any of you have tips like this also?
Re: Tip to avoid diaper rash!
My only concern would be to make sure the dryer has a cool setting, other wise it might get too hot for baby's skin. I generally use a second clean diaper to fan DS's diaper area before securing his new diaper. Dry cloths work as well. :]
I used Mylanta on DD and we never had any problems and she is 20 months now. A friend told me this is what her pediatrician told her.
Um...
Please explain how cold air can burn a baby. Watching my friend do it, she had the dryer set on low and cool. She also held it at a distance. I would much rather fan dry or use a hair dryer on my child's bum than slather it up with creams and lotions that are full of artificial ingredients and chemicals.
