**HLG** Holiday Edition

Happy 4th, ladies! I hope everyone is having fun with their families!!

How did you do last week, and more importantly - this weekend? Please share your positives and negatives and motivations to continue!!

Re: **HLG** Holiday Edition

  • I only got in 4 workouts last week - but yesterday I did a lot of running around with the kids and packing for our trip...so at least it was a complete bum day. DH worked yesterday and is working today so it was a little easier for me to stay on my diet :) Although - I hate when he works on holiday weekends. But next week we'll be able to spend a while week together, yeah!

I "cheated" a little last night - I had a Buffalito from Buffalo Wild Wings...but I don't think it was super duper bad for me (esp when compared to everything else) It has little bits of chicken with mild sauce (or whatever sauce you want) on a little burrito with lettuce and pico. I will definitely get it again when I need a cheat...because it's much better than munching on chicken wings.

I lost 5lbs last week....bringing my total to 15lbs. I'm very excited about this and my goal for this week is to work VERY hard with cardio and lose another 5lbs bringing me to my goal of 20 by my vacation. I actually bought shorts on Saturday and didn't vomit when I put them on!! I still have a decent pudge in my mid section...but my legs seem less flabby and my capris (that I wear 90% of the time) are hanging off of me. So that is GREAT motivation to move on. Those capris were actually expensive (Seven) and I think I'm going to go buy a new pair - two sizes down (DH told me to do that instead of buying a belt , haha!)...and those will be my new temporary skinny jeans for the rest of the summer.

I just want to thank you guys for getting/staying healthy with me!!! I really like these posts and knowing that I'm not alone...whether you have 5 or 50 lbs to lose - it's nice to know that not everyone can just eat what they want and not exercise and still be a size 2!!

    Good luck this week everyone!

Has anyone ever used an ab machine or tool to work out your abs?? The ab roller thing is pretty cheap. I think that would help me a little. But I remember seeing an infomercial for the machine that you sit on and swing your legs from side to side - not sure what it is called.

My back and neck are too fragile in my old age to do floor exercises anymore.

  • Great job Telyco!

I have been okay this weekend. But have definitely done my fair share of cheating too ;)

On Friday night we grilled pizzas, but I made whole wheat (thin) crust, and put veggies and grilled chicken on mine w/ light cheese. I also had a few beers.

Saturday I was good all day, had a great workout and drank tons of water while hanging outside all day w/ Evan. We went to the drive-in, and I snacked on honey wheat pretzel sticks w/ Nutella... yum! But I made sure to just dip a little, and portioned out a serving size of pretzels (and I didn't even finish all of them) Plus I had a few bites of Evan's ice cream.

Yesterday was pretty bad... I had a good breakfast, and then we went to my brother's house to swim. He grilled up burgers and I brought over some chicken sausages and pasta salad. I ate my sausage w/out a roll and had a small serving of pasta salad, lots of fruit and snacked on a few chips. Then for dinner we were all so tired so we just threw hot dogs on the grill w/ some baked beans and leftover pasta salad. I ate way too much pasta w/ dinner... it was so good and I couldn't help myself! THEN we made sundaes last night... but I only had a small scoop of low fat icecream, tons of fruit (bananas, strawberries and blueberries) w/ a little chocolate fudge, some slivered almonds and low fat whipped cream. It was sooooo good, and worth the splurge!

All in all, I'm happy to report that I am down 2 pounds this morning. I wasn't even going to step on the scale, because I thought for sure it would be a +... I was pleasantly surprised at the # (even though I weighed a pound less on Friday)

This week I am planning on getting in as many workouts as I can early in the week. My FIL and his fiance are coming to town on Friday morning, so I know I won't get to the gym all weekend, plus we'll be eating out a lot. I have less than 3 weeks till our vacation, and I have to buy a new bathing suit. (the 2 I have from last year are big, yay! But my pre-preg ones are not very flattering, to say the least... and should just be thrown out!)

No, I tend to think those machines are a marketing ploy. I like to do planks for ab work (they really work your whole core) And I do crunches on the stability ball. There was just an ab workout in my Women's Health Magazine using some hand weights and they are all standing exercises. I did it on Friday, and my abs are still sore! If you want, I can photo-copy it and mail it to you.

  • We didn't even go to any picnics and I still kind of fell off the wagon.  I had lost about 5 in the last 2 weeks which was amazing and got me into some capris that I haven't been able to wear, so that is good.  All in all, I feel yucky today because I broke my "rules", so I expect to get back into it tomorrow.  I find that if I start to go off the "plan", I lose the whole day.  Like I can't get it together.  It is all or nothing.  I am also going to try to workout more this coming week.  I am WAY out of shape, but my plan to get up before the kids wasn't going well with Mia being up super late and not sleeping (darn teething!).

I am encouraged and you ladies are helping me!  5 down, 15 to go....

  • Oh, and I really like the stability ball for abs too!  I used to have an ab thing for the floor, but I hated it.

I'm joining in a day late - we were out all day yesterday and didn't get home from fireworks until very late last night.

Good job, Telyco! I admire how much you've stuck to your workouts. I'm doing better, but haven't gotten into a routine yet.

I lost 2 lbs. last week, which is much better than I thought I did. I was sick on Wednesday, and haven't really been back to normal yet, so I was a bit lazy about my points. I did mow the lawn on Monday, and finally went on Saturday when I was feeling better, but that was it for exercise.

I was good on Friday and Saturday, but was absolutely horrible on Sunday. I went to my brother's for a BBQ, and couldn't get enough of the chips! I chose a chicken breast instead of a burger or hot dog, but enjoyed every last bit of my roll. Yesterday, I was better with eating, but still had fried dough at the park when we saw fireworks.

Hope everyone has a good week!
