So DH and I are renting a 3 bedroom house and currently our 3rd room is out "guest room". This is our 2nd child and his 3rd and with our DD we couldnt make a nursery either b/c we lived in a 2bedroom apartment. Now I am stuck since we cant paint which is fine...since they sell all kinds of new stick on wallpaper etc that will remove with no issue. The room isn't that big but I have contemplated taking the doors off the closet that takes up one wall this will not only make the room bigger but also allow us to use fabric to make one wall "pop" in color or theme. DH says he has a plan to fit the crib, full size bed, and everything else but I am just worried it wont be the babies room. We don't get many guests but when we do I don't want them to feel they are sleeping in a babies room. Then again the guests would be Grammie or Mema (MIL or my mom) so they should care right?
I dunno I am having that issue of feeling really bad that I can't create a whole nursery just for my lil "turtle" aka baby just seeing if any of you are in the same boat. THANKS
Re: Any one else not able to redo a room to become a nursery
For us, a baby's room would trump a guest room. Your kids live there 24/7 and guests do not.
That being said, I'm mourning my sewing room. We have a 3 BR house. DD is in one room and the other is my craft room. I love my room, and I really don't want to give it up!! I'm going to wait until much closer to my EDD to get it ready for the LO (we may move to a bigger home by then anyway).

You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Would it be in your budget to get a futon or pull-out sofa and ditch the full-size bed? That would help make the room feel more like it belongs to LO and would also be nice for feedings as an alternative to a chair or rocker. If you really only have one guest at a time, you could get away with a small-ish one, too.
I live in a small house and find it's more important to focus on what works for the 350 days a year we don't have guests than the few days here and there when we do.

We have the guest room b/c we are in Cali and the family is all on the east coast so it is best to have a room for when they visit. My mom has a lot of business out here with work and will be here more and Im not about to make her or my MIL sleep on the couch since they both have major back issues
I like the idea of a futon...wish they can make one that I can put my full size bed with lol...but the bed is brand new so We might put the mattress in one of the protecting bags and store it under our bed and the boxspring can go in the garage...
I wish we had 3 kids at once but the evil exwife wont let my step son come out here to visit and since DH has been deployed a whole year since we moved here there has been no need to fight it until he returns which we will but by the time the fight is over we will most likely be moving Aug of 2012
OK After talking to my wonderful MIL she had me realize that we will only (well i should say hoepfully) be here for 6months after baby is born and then (again hopefully) we will be buying our first house and DH will be out of the military (or at least in a place where we can purchase our own house in FL). Since MIL will be here for the first month of the baby's birth keeping the bed in there will be fine...since baby will be in our room in the bassenette....but she came up with some great decor ideas and said to make the room more a babies room but keep the bed that way when we move (and we will make sure we have 5bedrooms at that time) we can use it in one of those bunk bed things with the twin on top and full on bottom for my step son/guest room again.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas...I might throw them past DH and see if maybe we take down the bed store the boxspring in the garage and the mattress under our bed...
