Favorite one handed things to eat

I need to go to the grocery store something fierce.  I need some more 1 handed snack ideas.  I am going way too long between eating because we just don't have any foods in the house I can eat without preparing them first.

  • string cheese, precut fruit, granola bars (the snackwells brand are my fave, they have more protein than most!)

Im starting to get good at eating just about anything with one hand though! My balance with a fork has improved greatly the last two weeks :)

  • my new fav snack is cinnamon roasted almonds. You can get them in 100 calorie packs, so it's just grab n go!  I also eat a lot of bars- specialK bars, nutrigrain bars, kashi, granola.. whatever kind looks good that week.  Having a fruit bowl out helps too- easy snacks you don't have to prep (and I find that seeing it on the counter reminds me i need to eat!)

  • My one handed snacks of choice today were doritos and twizzlers...not good choices!
  • I keep a giant bag of trail mix from Costco where I nurse at night so I can grab a handful if I'm hungry.

During the day: fruit, precut veggies and dip, cheese strings, freezies, muffins, beef jerky

I made a big batch of trail mix today. I just threw together dried fruit, nuts, cereal, yogurt raisins, pretzels, m&ms, animal crackers... I think that's it! It was about 5 minutes of prep time and I'll probably be snacking on it for a week or two. Maybe not the healthiest choice, but it's easy and yummy :)

  • I would often do a drinkable soup or protein shake with skim milk. Fruit/yogurt Smoothies are great too, you can add protein and fiber to it if you need extra. I also did alot of rollup type of sandwiches. I'm the type of person who can't do snacky foods all day, I need a "meal", something I can bite my teeth into and rollups were key. I would also buy an already roasted chicken and cut it all up into finger size pickup pieces and throw that on a plate (cold) with cucumber slices, baby carrots, grape tomatoes or whatever finger size veggies that were handy and put a little ranch on the side and just one hand dipped the chicken and "salad".
