What PG books are you reading?

I know WTEWYE is classic, but I've heard many people say that it tends to focus on what can go wrong and that there are better alternatives out there.  So, what are reading/planning to read?

  • The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy has really helped put my mind at ease about things so far. WTEWYE has good information, but I agree that it can make me a little panicked at times. The Girlfriend's Guide has made me realize that all these crazy things I'm thinking and feeling are completely normal and that it's ok. And it is funny, which is always a good thing!

I dl'ed Your Pregnancy Week by Week to my Kindle. It's not the original version of the book (which I've heard is a little too clinical and scary at times). So far the one I'm reading is a friendly read except that it's written by a British doctor so a lot of the information about health care/hospitals don't apply to those of us that live in the US.

  • I bought Your Pregnancy Week by Week and today I bought Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.  I've only started the Your Pregnancy book, but the other one looks like a good one.  I don't think I will be purchasing WTEWYE.

  • i have WTEWYE on hold at the library, but i might pass on it.  I'm worried enough - I don't want to read anything negative.  I think I'll have to get the Girlfriend's Guide - I've heard about it a lot in the last week.

I've also read Full of Life and Taboo Secrets of Pregnancy.  These were both just advice on what is going to happen to your body - nothing medical.  I liked them both and you can read them in a day or two.  Taboo is 2.99 on ibooks.

Any reviews on What to Eat When You Are Expecting (or something like that)  I don't have the best eating habits and I want to make sure I eat well for baby.

  • it's already been said... but I highly recommend the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy as well. It's honest and true. I love the way it's written. Wish we were friends IRL... I have a couple of copies!

  • I posted earlier, but in case anyone missed it...I got a bunch of these books for $1 at Goodwill.  Check it out if you want some cheap pregnancy books!  They even had them all organized into a "pregnancy" section.
