Babies: 6 - 9 Months

saving food...

My DD eats real sweet potatoes and avocados.  Does anyone know how long a baked sweet potato is good for?  Can I freeze it and then defrost as she needs it?

Also, I am pretty sure there is no way to preserve an avocado but I thought I'd ask...

Re: saving food...

  • I make and freeze all kind of baby food.  I think it's good for up to 3 months int he freezer, however I use it within a month.  You can keep food up to 3 days in the fridge.  I would use an avacado only twice.  It's best fresh!!

  • Great thanks!  Do you put the avocado in the fridge?
  • Um....I just ate the rest :O)  I probably would just to be safe...but i don't know if you have to!?

  • Lol that's what I have been doing :p
  • You can slice the avacado and freeze it.  We've had no problems with it - just defrost in microwave for a few seconds and use quickly or it will turn brown.

I don't know about sweet potatoes.  I puree them and then freeze and that works fine.
