Rec. your sunblock..

I know there was a post about this, but my pedi said to not use it till 6 months. The daycare looked at me crazy when I told them this, and now I have to figure out what I will send in so my LO doesn't get burned while he's there or miss out on things because he's the only one without it. Thanks!

Re: Rec. your sunblock..

  • My pedi okay'd the use of a few brands at our 2 month appt: Neutrogena Free and Pure Baby and Blue Lizard are the 2 that are coming to mind right now. She said to test a small amount on LO's foot for any type of reaction.

We use Neutrogena Pure & Free. He hasn't had any problems with it. Definitely test it on the foot first.

We use California baby. Our pedi liked/okayed it. Like others said do test on foot

  • My pedi mentioned Neutrogena, but she said not on his face/hands.  Long sleeves/sunhats are a plus too.

  • you can use sunblock, not sunscreen.  block uses titanium and zinc oxide.  Those are physical blockers.  screens are chemivcal blockers and not OK for babies.  Just read the labels and anything that is a physical blocker is fine.

This. We are going to use Ca. Babies (we pretty much exclusively use their products, they seem to be free of most of the garbage you are supposed to be on the lookout for.)

Great post on this whole thing:

  • Manufacturers cannot make claims that sunscreens are ?waterproof? or ?sweatproof, or identify their products as ?sunblocks.?

New regulations per the FDA. Just be sure to read the label!
