Today I was out with baby all day for about 8 hours. It's the longest I have been out of the house with him in public. I nursed in public several times... on a park bench, in the food court at the mall, at a coffee shop. He got fussy at the grocery store and I was able to calm him down in the store instead of feeling panicked like I needed to rush home right away. I just continued to shop with him in one arm and pushing the cart with the other. It was great.
Today made me feel like I am really getting the hang of being a mom. It's not that scary any more. Anyone else feel like this now?
Re: I am proud of myself!
You're a rockstar for being out with your baby for 8 hours.
I haven't gotten the hang of being a mommy quite yet. I paid for my neighbor to come with me to get pedicures yesterday because I was terrified of getting one alone with the baby. He was a happy and easy baby like he normally is in public, but I was afraid of looking like the basket case mommy.
I hope I can be like you soon.
Nothing like just diving in!
As long as I had a reasonable night's sleep, I'm usually up for being out. It's very liberating to realize you can get back to life and still take care of the baby, too.
