What is lightening crotch?

My kiddo is footling breach, so I have been getting some swift kicks to the cervix which make me jump in pain.  I'm guessing, however, since most of your kiddos are NOT breach that this is not lightening crotch? 

Either way, I'm about to have a baby foot dangling out of my crotch.  Cool.

    It is when your baby starts to drop down into position.  Typically, you will feel some more pressure due to the baby getting into position.

    From what I understand, it's when you get a stabbing pain in your vagina.  It's not coming from inside the uterus/baby, but inside your vagina.

    If you have it you will know right away! I use to laugh at the term and now I get it so badly sometimes I have to hunch over and bend down for it to go away. It seriously feels like you have a lightening bolt go straight up your vagina.

    Wow, there's a name for that? If I didn't know my baby was head down, I would think her leg was about to pop out... It hurts SO bad!!
