Head engaged!!

Im 35 weeks now and I went to see my DR yesterday.  He could feel the babys head!  He said I could go into labor at anytime!!!  He put me on bed rest b/c he wants me to try to keep him in there 2-3 more weeks.  I can't believe it's already here!  I thought I had another month but I guess I'm wrong.  I am very excited but nervous at the same time.  I dont want my baby to be born early cause he will have to go in the NICU :-(  So I'm trying to take it easy...even though there is so much to do.  I just wanted to share this ladies...my lil boy will be here very soon!  We r beyond excited!!

    Congrats on baby being head down! That said, I am not trying to ruin your excitement, but there are just a couple things you should be aware of: First, just b/c he could "feel baby's head" down there, doesn't mean he is engaged, it means he has dropped. Or he could be partially engaged. Also, as this is your first, baby can be even fully engaged and remain there very contently for weeks with no problem or other signs of early labor. So, while it is excellent to know baby is head down and you don't have to worry about breech or anything- don't get too impatient yet. Enjoy your time relaxing and try to embrace the last stretch of your pregnancy. Take care of yourself because yes, he could be here anytime- maybe tomorrow, maybe a week late. GL! :)

    Ditto the PP.  My baby's head is engaged - I'm 37 weeks and even 70% effaced - but doc said that baby could come anytime or could go to 41 weeks.  You can't tell when they are going to come just because the head is engaged or because you are effaced or dilated.  Sorry if that bursts any bubbles - but you could potentially still be pregnant for quite some time.

    My little lucy has been head down and engaged since before 30 weeks. I've also been walking around almost completely effaced and dilated 1cm since before 30 weeks. I'm now 38 weeks and have no sign of labor coming anytime soon.

    DS's head could be felt at my 36 wk internal...he showed up at 40 wks exactly.

    I walked around dilated with head engaged at 32 weeks and didnt deliver until 37. unfortunately it doesnt mean much except that your body is naturally progressing which is great obviously, but it doesnt mean an early baby.

    Oh i see...thanks ladies.  I had no idea they could hang out in there that long after that.  Well I guess I will just wait and see when he wants to make his arrival :-)  A few days after doc told me this, I was so worried that anything I did would make me go into labor.  Thats how the doc talked anyways.  But now I feel that hes never coming out...lol.  I have my appt friday so we will see how things go.  I know im ready..but I know he still needs time to finish growing.  Even though Im in so much pain and getting anxious....I can wait till whenever he is ready to meet us.  Im so excited!!!!  Good luck to all of u!
