Food Allergy

What do you give LO for snacks?

DD has dairy and wheat intolerances (of the foods we've tried so far). She has been eating every four hours and getting solids with her bottle, but she's showing signs that she's ready to transition to eating every 5 hours with some snacks in between.

I've been doing cereal + fruit for breakfast.

Veggie+fruit for lunch

Veggie+veggie for dinner

I haven't tried any meats or soy with her yet and I'm tired of giving her the same fruits and veggies over and over again. Any suggestions for some good between meal snacks (and what portion size I should be giving for a snack)?

  • Soy is a big part of LOs diet.  He gets soy yogurt a lot. With a dairy and wheat allergy you could do a corn tortilla with hummus.  There is a pizza flavored hummus my son loves!  Using the flavored instant oatmeal, I make these bars for him to snack on(omitting the nuts and substituting soy milk for reg. milk): https://www.katheats.com/favorite-foods/baked-oatmeal-snack-bars

     Hope this helps!

  • I just realized how little she was!  You could still do the soy yogurt, hummus and instant oatmeal.

  • Both of my kids love the Pirate's Booty Veggie Snacks (corn and rice based) and the Corn Tings.  They don't get them all of the time, but they seem healthier than most of the crackers out there.

"So delicious" yogurt (but i guess she could have soy yogurt.. but pls do your research on soy -i'm not a big fan of too much soy personally)

cereals (there are many wheat free)

once she's 1, she has more options..  but honestly before 1 you don't need too many things. my son only had veggies and fruits.
