Getting annoyed

DH and DS are going camping.  N came bursting into our room at 8am "I'm ready to go camping, Daddy!!!!" and I was all excited to have a 24 hours to myself.

They're still here.

Why you ask?

DH has spent the past 3 weeks swapping an axle or something on his Jeep. This goes on from 7pm to 12am or later. Every night. No family time. No family dinners. No sex.

Last night he discovered the brake pads were bare so the brakes are being replaced right now.  This is normally an hour long thing that has been going on for 5+ now because something else is wrong. Brakes are important so how about calling the whole thing off and let's go do something as a family in the nice weather instead of me being stuck here because who knows when it'll be done?

I will flip my lid if they return before 5pm tomorrow. As in completely lose it.  You do not tell a mama she gets a day to herself and then take it away.

But I can't be too upset with him because this was not expected and he is totally bummed they're not already there.

I can only imagine how peeved the neighbor who was going with them is right now.

Dude, that sucks. Hopefully you can at least make a cocktail and sit in the sun!!  (My plans got cancelled, too, and that's what I'm doing to make myself feel better)

  • That sucks.  And it sounds like it is a much bigger issue than just this weekend!  My DH also loves working on his jeep and if it isn't that he has a million other projects to tend to.  I often find myself needing to remind him that his jeep and other projects are hobbies, just like my knitting is a hobby, and that it is important for him to balance that with family and me also getting a chance to do what I like.  It's tough sometimes, but I would not be okay with him being in his garage every night.

  • ooh I would be PISSED and I would be calling a tow truck and getting it in to somewhere who can fix it without ruining your life for 2 weeks!

and that's part of the problem...this $hit is expensive, yo! I'm told it will cost W and it end up costing Z, because something else is always uncovered.  I'd be more understanding if this was a daily driver, but it's the hobby. And the daily (BMW) is costly too.

    I want some alone time.

I want a tummy tuck. That can be my multi-thousand hobby.

Darn Jeep is getting in my way.

Killing the rhodie made me feel a LOT better.

Yeah. And I kind of just realized it today.  Unfortunately I told him this when he called right before they were leaving cell range and now I feel bad that I put this pall over his trip with N.  I think we resolved it though. Or it will be once there is enough extra in savings for a tummy tuck.
