Real food?

my son is eleven months old and he has no interest in real food at all. I've tried over the last few months once in a while to give him chunks of bananas, and tried stage 3 food. He always choks on it. Even the gerber puffs is it normal for him to not be ready for it yet? His first birthday is fast approaching and I'm scared he wont be able to have any cake :(

Re: Real food?

  • My daughter was at a similar stage at that age. She just wanted to drink milk and didn't have much interest in food. She still doesn't really. I think we were still breaking puffs in half at that age because she was choking. Feeding her is still a struggle and she eats mostly purees and doesn't want to feed herself. She's super picky and never wants anything that we are eating. We were going to go to a feeding clinic after her 12 month appt but then her eating got a little better but now we're back to having some difficulties again so we may try a feeding clinic. The book "Child of Mine" by Ellyn Satter is very good. This is also a good site https://familyfeedingdynamics.com/ . Dr. Katja Rowell is local and will do home visits to help with feeding issues.

  • He will eat pureed food just fine, im just having trouble getting him to eat solids. I'm trying different kinds of puffs he kinda just crushed them up with his hands then licked the pieces up but i guess it's a start.
