The noise may startle the baby, but so does a rack load of other sounds. I recommend not sticking them up your nose or in your mouth, other than that I'm sure it's fine.
I went to a fireworks display last weekend - it did make my little one jump around like crazy...so it made me a little nervous. She was really quiet the next day but movements have been back to normal since. It was more uncomfortable for me with how much/strong she was moving than any harm it did her.

Im ashamed to be asking this, but I just have to. Is it safe to be around fireworks? Will the loud noise just startle the baby?
Well, that depends. Are you going to be setting them off while standing under a metal dome with a jet flying overhead at the same time? Because that might be too loud for the baby.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

Just lurking from November mommies but saw this and had to say that you are not stupid for asking this at all. DH and I were at a baseball game about 2 weeks ago and there was a fireworks display after the game. I sat through it and LO gave a big "flip flop" feeling. I got concerned after that that it might be too much. After coming home and doing some research, I found out that it was totally okay. They don't recommend you be the one setting them off, but if you are sitting at a show, you and LO should be fine... ENJOY
Re: fireworks?
