STTN and supply issues

I just started letting my 3-mo old son STTN about 1.5 weeks ago. I say "letting" b/c I was still waking him up at 6 hrs. I had supply issues with DD once I started letting her STTN, and was paranoid/concerned about it happening this time too. I continued waking him up way longer than DD, and have sloooooowly streched out his night, to 9 hrs now. Alas, over the past day or so, I now have a fussy, hungry baby who isn't napping well due to hunger. Am I just doomed to have really good sleepers and a really fickle milk supply? Or is it possible to let the LO sleep 9 hrs, and still have a strong supply the rest of the day? What do y'all do when it comes to STTN and maintaining your suply??

Fenugreeking and 2 hr daytime feeds for now...

Re: STTN and supply issues

  • I felt like we already had the 3 mo spurt a couple weeks ago, but I guess he could be spurting again? No, not gonna supplement w/ formula, that will only hurt my supply. I had a an LC tell me with DD never to go longer than 5 hrs, so I was waking up in the middle of the night to pump. Only lasted on that plan about a month. Crazy. Hopefully it WILL settle down in a few days! Thanks for the encouragement! Anyone else got any tips??

  • I pump 2 hours after his last feeding before bed. Keeps up my supply, gives me a stash, and also makes me comfortable when he's at the 5-7 hour mark.
