Might be a stupid question but if you're not supposed to wipe down there after the baby is born what about when you go... well you know. lol. and how long are you not allowed to wipe? OMg that just grossed me out so much.
After you give birth your nurse will give you what we call a "peri bottle." It is just a little squirt bottle. Have it filled with room temperature or luke warm water and after you do your business you squirt your bottom and gently pat clean/dry.

Yes this!
As far as "back there"..use wipes and tucks pads afterwards...and just be really gently!
I swear going to the bathroom after birth takes like 15 minutes just to get through the process...for at least a week-or it was that way for me!
Question has already been answered, but I'll just relay my experience. The day after DD was born, I had to have a BM really bad. I was so freaking nervous about it, I held it off as long as I could! I sat on the toilet and was so tensed up, I had to do some deep breathing exercises to relax, lol
TMI: Fortunately, the BM was perfectly fine. Came out without incident :P No pain from it at all and wiping was not an issue.
Eat lots of fibber and drink lots of water in the last month, ladies! It helps keep BMs soft and ready to go... So to speak.

ROFL this made me laugh out loud because it's SO true! Hahaha!
But yes the Peri bottle is a God send. Fill it with hot/warm water and it will feel like heaven. I just made sure to have a bath once a day to keep things clean there since the patting versus wiping doesn't always get everything. The hot water also helped ease the pain from my stitches.

Also, take stool softeners! They were a Godsend. I was very nervous for the 1st BM, but these made it not hurt at all.
If you deliver in a hospital they should give you a peri bottle which is a squirt bottle. Fill it with warm water (not too hot or too cold) to spray/rinse.
