I'm in the process of switching REs and have heard good things about Dr Dunn at Fertility Specialists of Houston. Any recommendations? I prefer female Dr's so have you heard anything about Dr Leah Schenk at FSH?
Thanks, in advance, for any advice.
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
No heartbeat at 10w6d
FET August 27,2012 = BFP!

I know you said you prefer females but I still suggest this clinic because they are AWESOME! I usually only prefer female doctors too but I felt at ease with Dr. Griffith and very confident in the practice's ability to help me.
And now that I am pregnant and getting weekly ultrasounds, I'm usually seeing their nurse practitioner, who is a woman. (I go to the Willowbrook location.) So it is still very comforting.
Is that the place that has commercials? I've been going to Houston IVF but my DH didn't get the warm-fuzzies from Dr McKenzie so he wants to switch. I actually liked her but am trying to make him feel like he's a part of this even though I'm the one getting poked and prodded.

Another vote for Houston Fertility Institute here. I used Dr. Gill for both of my pregnancies, but most all of my monitoring appointments are with the nurses who are all super nice. The staff there is great!
Dr. Roach is a female, with offices on the north side, and she also gets a lot of recommendations here, but I have never personally seen her.

I don't know if they have commercials or not. I just looked under my insurance for Reproductive Endocrinologists and found Dr. Griffith and set up an appointment. I had 2 losses last year and wanted to by tested but my OB didn't want to test unless I had 3 losses, so I went to an RE on my own. He tested and didn't find any obvious problems but I felt better knowing that then trying again.
I did get pregnant on my own but I have had to be on progesterone and estrogen, things I know my ob wouldn't have looked at so I'm glad I went to them.
I looked a little further on their website (because of the other reply) and it does look like they might have another female doctor too. So you can call and see where the female doctors practice at because they have several offices in the Houston area.
I went to HFI as well, and also saw Dr Gill. I found them to be pretty up-front and even though he did recommend
going straight to IVF for us, I never got the feeling it was because of money -- he'd have happily done IUI for us if we'd wanted, but our diagnosis (anovulation + severe MFI) pointed the other way.
I saw all of the doctors in the practice, actually, for one thing or another -- Dr Haddad did one of my hysteroscopies, and Dr Griffith did the other; Dr Witz did my egg retrieval and Dr Gill did my transfer (since I was his patient.) And Dr Williams saw me at my final release appointment.
I think they may have some commercials now, I think I've seen one once?
I've heard good things about Fertility Specialists I think. I ended up at HFI because my OB recommended them (and sent his daughter to Dr Gill)

I also went to HFI. My OB sent me to his friend and said he would take good care of me. I had Dr. Hadaad and I can't say enough great things about him. He was wonderful. He took my issue very seriously (Which was VERY hard to get across to most doctors)

I think that seems to be the biggest thing at HFI. They take every patient seriously and addresses their concerns head on instead of giving them bs excuses why they can't/shouldn't test you and etc like most doctors. They make you feel like your concerns are valid.

Another Dr. Haddad fan here. I saw him almost exclusively but in my little experience with the other doctors I liked them as well. When I first went there they had a female doctor but I think it is all male now.
They do have commercials that I think are kind of cheesy!
Houston Fertility Center has an all female staff, they are right up the street from IVF, Dr. Sonja Kristiansen is one of the few Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists in the field, aside from IVF's staff. The number is 713-862-6181
After my original OB/GYN recommended I and the Houston Fertility Center recommended IVF, Dr. Wheeler ran tests and actually found what the problem was and 4 months later we were able to conceive naturally.
Wherever you go make sure they run every test possible and really know why you need IVF, we found out that there was no way IVF would have worked, it would have just been money down the drain.

Nice first post. Looks like someone caught wind of the awful, albeit overly-posed review of Dr. Kristiansen a couple weeks ago.

I really appreciate all the input. I'm not new to the IF thing but am nervous about changing REs. Hopefully, I'll be able to join this board soon.

I went to Dr. Schenk and LOVED her! She was kind, sensitive, and knowledgeable. My husband also really appreciated her caring bedside manner towards him. I had a spetate uterus and she performed the surgery, follow-up HSG and even kept me under her care (before "graduating" me to a regular OBGYN) longer than usual due to my comfort level and previous miscarriage. I loved her.

Thanks so much! Not sure why I'm so stuck on lady Dr's but its one of my things. A good friend of mine went to Dr Dunn and loved him but I don't know anyone that has been to Schenk. It seems like their aren't too many female REs in Houston besides the one I've been to (McKenzie).
I was seriously considering pulling the plug on my appt next week after all the recs for HFI. I guess I'll give her a shot and if we don't click I'll head over to HFI.

Re: Fertility Specialists of Houston anyone?
I go to Houston Fertility Institute, as do a lot of other women on here. I think the whole group is male, I see Dr. Griffith.

I got pregnant with the help of Dr Dunn at Fertility Specialists of Houston and have 3 friends who used the same group.
I wish you luck in your search!
