Re: care.com vs sittercity.com

  • I've used both as a babysitter. In my experience people on care.com are looking more for nannies and sittercity is people looking for occasional help. I know they both offer help for either. A lot of my grad student classmates use them to find jobs, just be sure that you are VERY clear and up front with your expectations and how you envision your working relationship.

  • I have used Care.com (although Sittercity and Care4hire.com I have heard good things about too).  I really like all the options Care.com has--the layout is great and easy to navigate. The babysitter or nanny will have her availability schedule and you can see what she is willing to do (cooking, transportation, etc).  I really do love reading each profile as I feel it connects you to the sitter--maybe she has the same interests as your kids.  Plus, you can also see if she has her background check on file, which is great too.

The thing I like most about Care.com is the community it has.  I always join in on Facebook to see what the latest discussion is and follow them on Twitter (@CaredotCom) too.  They have a great blog and really good articles (I have shared their Summer Safety Guide with all my friends) and even a way to find last minute care.  For me, since I trust the site, I feel like anyone would be a good fit (I still will interview of course).

I know Care.com has listings for every town so just do a search for your town by typing in your zip code.  For example: https://www.care.com/78202 brings you to the San Antonio page.  If you like what you see, go from there.

  • I recently posted a job on both and I've gotten more responses from care.com

  • I used Nannies4hire.com to find our nanny!  She has been wonderful with the kids and the site was very easy to use!  Check it out!
