I'm visiting a friend who just had her baby this afternoon, and like a dolt I forgot to get anything for her. I got her a baby shower gift, but I feel like I can't show up empty handed, especially since I think she has had a really rough recovery. What gifts did you really appreciate when you first came home from the hospital? Gifts for you--chocolate, books, flowers? Gifts for the baby?
I'm going to be in a super rush to get there, so I can only really stop at a store between me and the subway, so my choices are a drugstore, grocery store, bakery, flower store, bookstore, or toystore.
Re: What can I get (quickly) for a friend who just had her baby?
Absolutely this. Or a giftcard for local takeout
IVF #1 - BFP (6dt)
Unassisted Pregnancy #2 - lost at 15w6d due to T21, severe heart defects, and fetal hydrops
Anything but a book. I had no time to read when DD was that little. I'd stop at the grocery store and pick up stuff to make her a dinner plus a little extra that can be frozen. Also, offer to throw a load of laundry in of do some picking up for her if she needs it. Or, just sit with the baby so she can take a shower or a nap.
Go to the bakery and grab some cupcakes. That's what my H did. I LOVED it and I didn't have to worry about lugging it home when we left the hospital.
ETA: You did say she just had the baby, right? So, she is still in the hospital, right?
Go Phils!!
Woops! My post was a little misleading. I'm visiting her this afternoon, but she had the baby a few days ago and is home now. Thanks for all of the ideas! I'm sure she would love cupcakes, but I'm not much of a cook so I'll leave that to an expert!
