There was a post yesterday from someone who said they had found their workplace's lactation room. some others had posted how they will have to pump in the bathroom. I just wanted to share this link from the US Dept. of Labor, the law is now changed to REQUIRE any workplace w/ 50 employees to have a separate, non bathroom , free from customers or other employees.
get working on your boss's now ladies, if they don't know the law!
Re: PSA: if you're going to pump at work
well, take it up w/ your HR and see what they say. if it's a law there isn't really much they can do to avoid it. they will get fined if you report them (which you should), if they still refuse. good luck!
I just called and left a message with our HR person.
I called our Employee Health Services first... and she told me that she doesnt know anything about my building and doesn't know what I would do for pumping. Gee, thanks for the help!

I love this post. I used to work in a breastfeeding center and we literally had this law framed. We had alot of women coming in asking about it, and explaining to us that they were expected to pump in bathrooms. Unacceptable.
I agree with OP, get working on the boss now. Also, you go girl.
I do too, but it also has a window out to the hallway that we've been instructed not to cover. My company is under 50 employees, so I'll be pumping in a supply closet.

I'm a teacher too, and I don't think we have any empty rooms like this either. We have a teacher's lounge, but teachers go in and out of there to use the restroom and some people eat in there.
Very interesting post! My friend at school had to pump during her "specials/enrichment" time in her classroom.
I like the part that says, "Any time breast milk needs to be expressed."
I might have to use that little bit of information depending on what time my enrichment time is scheduled.
I wonder how many times I should pump between 7am-3pm if I pump/breastfeed around 6:15am and couldn't get home til 3:30pm at the earliest.
You will not be pumping all day. Work out a schedule to alternate. I knew people who pumped in a conference room and they scheduled time so people wouldn't book it.
