Waiting on call from them for surgery date, they have to get a date from the hospital and will let me know by next week.
So, I have cervical dysplaisa that is 1 step away from cervical cancer. It may never turn into that, but we have to remove it via out patient surgery to be safe. It is a pretty big area and they want to cut it out rather than do another LEEP (electric current that swipes and burn the cells). Cutting it (cold knife cone) will help preserve the rest of the cervix better than another LEEP. They will also rule out invasive cells during the procedure.
After the surgery I wait 4 mos and go back to make sure they got it all, if all clear then we can TTC again.
My biggest issue is having to have someone come to the hospital with me. I want to go alone but they use some anesthesia and I can't drive home. I don't want to share this with family, no need to worry them. I also will be much more relaxed if I know dh is home with R, and not anyone else. I am pretty private about this (yup, sounds silly as I post this to a public board) and just would rather go alone.
I am hoping to get this done this month and move on, but have no idea what the hospitals schedule is like. I also hate to take another day off from work, I feel like such an inconvenience.
Re: Had follow up with gyn oncologist
My sister had the LEEP procedure done about 8 years ago and everything has looked great so far! Her daughter turns 6 on July 9th.
Good luck with everything, I'll be thinking about you!
I'm so sorry you have to go through all this
But take care of yourself.. you shouldn't feel like an inconvenience. I'm glad they are taking care of it though, and a good reminder I need my overdue annual.
We don't have much family, and when I was preg with baby #2 and found out I lost the baby and needed a D&C, we dind't have anyone to help with DD. So DH took me to the hospital, then took DD out (lunch, shopping, etc) and then picked me up after my surgery. I was fine with that, I more or less insisted we go that route. Not sure if that is an option for you too, but hopefully you can figure something out.

Oh S, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I am glad they are doing something before it gets to the point where it could be more, but still, I wish you didn't have to worry about any of this. Like K said, I am more that willing to help out in any way possible. Maybe both of us can watch R with the girls, so it will really just be a play date where you slip out for however long you need?
Know that we are here for you, sending T&P your way!
I'm sorry to hear you have to endure all this, S and I wish i were closer to help out.

That's the kicker...I have always tested negative for HPV. I should ask about the typing though, thanks!
Thanks everyone, your offers to help out are so sweet. You girls are the best! I will let you know what we decide to do, after the call with a date.
