TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

WWYD? (MFI mentioned)

DH and I are trying to figure out our next move.  Should I schedule an appointment with my OB to get tested to make sure all my lady bits are working properly?  Or should I find a RE to do it, or do I go to a fertility clinic?  I am not sure if a RE is the same as a fertility clinic, please excuse me if it is.  I also am wondering if we should see a urologist for DH, not sure how to go about finding one that specializes in infertility.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Re: WWYD? (MFI mentioned)

  • As far as I know "fertility clinic" is the place where the RE works, could be wrong though. That being said a is probably a good option, maybe if they do IUI or IVF that would help your problems. I also think a urologist is a good option but I have no idea how to find one that specializes in infertility, maybe your OB would have a referral or maybe go and see the RE and have him refer you to the urologist. Good luck!

  • I would definitely skip the OB and move to an RE if you can - my RE is so much more knowledgeable than my OB.  (I'm assuming an RE/fertility clinic are the same thing but I don't know for sure).  The RE should be able to tell you what direction to take for your DH.  We're MFI, but our issue is morphology.  We are not having DH see a urologist because RE doesn't think there is much that can be done to improve his issue.  Instead, we tried IUI and are now moving to IVF with ICSI to get around it.  I hope you are able to come up with a plan.  (((HUGS)))

I hope you get a plan soon !

This. Maybe your OB can refer you to a good RE if you are having trouble locating one.

  • Most REs around here require that you have a referral, so go to your OB and get one for a local RE. While you're OB can perform and SHG, and RE will be able to do the HSG and any tests on your partner for male issues. And since their job is to get you pregnant, if time is of the essence it's definitely the way to go.

  • I would start with the RE. When I went to the RE, they had me repeat all the tests the OB did anyways.

The RE will then tell you if a urologist is needed, and can probably make a recommendation of one.

My one biggest regret was wasting time with the OB instead of just sucking it up and seeing the RE.

  • I would have DH see an urologist and make an appt with an RE. My OB I was seeing before I saw the RE was kinda blowing me off that I was young and had time. When I finally saw an RE it was nice to feel like I was getting somewhere and they were taking me seriously.
