Things to do for 1yr old Girl and 6 yr old Boy

Please help, my Niece and Nephew will be here Sunday from MD to stay with me for 4 days and I am very excited. I want to make sure they are entertained though. What can I do with them? I guess I should get the practice in as I am due with my first in August. I want to make sure they have fun and would want to return and hang with me again once baby is here. Any ideas would be helpful and truly appreciated. I live in the Stone Mountain area but willing to travel anywhere to keep them entertained. This is kinda hard bc the age gap of the 2 as I could take the 6 yr old to amusement parks or something but the year old nor I could ride with him so I am at a blank. TIA

Re: Things to do for 1yr old Girl and 6 yr old Boy

  • I have a 1 year old little boy and have been trying to find new things to do with him. We go to the pool all the time since it's so hot out. I just took him to Woody's Jump N Play, which is pretty much the same as Monkey Joe's and he had a blast!! He loves the aqaurium and I called Imagine It! Children's Museum and they said he would enjoy going there as well. All of these places are fairly inexpensive to do. I think Imagine It! is $12.50 for adults, free under 2, but I'm not sure how much children are. Monkey Joe's was $5.00 for DS and I think maybe $7 or $8 for children over 2 and adults are FREE! The aquarium is probably the most expensive and I don't know what there rates are, but you could check them on the website. These are the main things off the top of my head that both age groups would enjoy. I have the same problem when my sister comes because she's 11 so there's a huge age gap between her and DS. Hope this helps!

  • I think the boy will really enjoy the Fernbank Museum. There's the zoo, if its not too hot, the Aquarium, Imagine It! Children's Museum, Piedmont Park has fountains that are a hit on this board. Not sure how your niece would do in movies, but Regal has $1 movie days on Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • You got some good suggestions.  You know, Chuck E Cheese can still be fun for a 1 yr old, and definitely a 6 yr old.  It's just a shame the food is awful!

We found with DD that at 1, going anywhere NEW with things she hadn't seen before was cool for her.  That included visiting a lighting store, pet shop, etc.  So anywhere you choose for your 6 yr old that he thinks is cool, will be stimulating for the 1 year old.  The zoo would probably be a big hit for both of them.  If there is a duck pond anywhere near you, feeding the ducks is an immensely popular experience for little ones.

Thank U! Yes, I am calling Imagine it tomorrow and Fernbank. Where exactly in the park are the fountains located? I know centennial park has fountains and I saw on tv last night how they have upgraded Piedmont and was very impressed, maybe we can have a picnic there on Monday and they can hang out in the fountains. I have to ask my brother does she do movies well bc how can u turn down $1 movies. I am so excited to have them here.
