We keep trying it cause I really think it would make him sttn. He goes down now at 8-9 pm (we tried earlier but he wasn't sleepy) and eats last then. When we wake him for the dreamfeed (between 10-11) he doesn't wake up to eat! Any tips??
We feed him at 7 and then put him to bed around 8. We dreamfeed at about 10. I thought the point of a dreamfeed was NOT to wake the babe.
When we used to wake him, we would take him out of his swaddle and change his diaper.

I don't get the whole "dream feed" thing. My LO either won't take the nipple or wakes up fully. For the past week, she'll wake up between 8:00pm-8:30pm and cluster feed until 11:00pm, then sleep for 5-7 hours straight.

Yeah I'm a little confused...how is waking a baby supposed to help them sleep longer...I thought you just fed them without waking them up....
**I'm not really sure about it, but that's what I got from hearing everyone else talk about them...I don't do dreamfeeds with DD and never really researched them. Although I think I had a dream feed last night lol. I go to bed every night with a bottle ready on the nightstand of BM and I woke up and it was gone...I don't remember waking up lol. So it's kinda a reverse dreamfeed haha!
I think she is implying that the baby isn't taking the nipple (bottle or breast). My LO won't either. I'll pull him from the crib and seriously force my nipple in his mouth and it will just sit there with him snoring around it.

I don't do dreamfeeds, but I once tried feeding DS after he fell asleep in his carseat because he typically eats before naps and this led into his longest one, but he just snored with his mouth open around my boob. I'm guessing it wouldn't work well for us overnight either...
I also think that what OP meant, and what I meant in turn was that LO won't even wake up enough to eat. I just end up waking him up fully, which is kind of the opposite of what I was trying to do.

By not waking up I mean that he wont eat... I don't want him to fully wake up, I know the purpose of the dreamfeed but he wont even open his mouth... just keeps snoring on.

same here. she wont eat unless hungry on her terms
Nurse at pedi office said to Try expressing a tiny bit of your milk and letting it hit his lower lip, that should get his reflex started enough to keep eating. My LO wouldnt dream feed off my breast but will with a bottle.

Mine does the same thing. I gave it one last attempt last night and he didn't wake whatsoever. We'll see about tonight.

I hope she can continue this...
