Anyone's little ones have asthma?
Rye was diagnosed this past weekend finally. We were told reactive airway disorder up until now. Sat night was our 7th visit to the ER since Thanksgiving for his breathing/wheezing.
He is already on a 2x a day inhaled steriod and his dr said we can introduce Singulair 1x a day as well to see how it goes or go to NW asthma and allergy for a consult. I voted to the asthma/allergy center so we can get additional answers vs more drugs.
I have a co-worker that swears, after she cut out ALL dairy, her respitory system improved tremendously. (she had breathing issues) Anyone heard of this?
Perhaps it's his allergies manifesting itself with wheezing. We are pretty lax with his allergies since his Dr said to see how it goes. We don't do cows milk, but he does get cheese and yogurt. I have a feeling after his visit to the center, things will change.
Poor little guy, I just want him to not have to work so hard to breathe when an attack hits him. Any little runny nose and he starts wheezing to the point of an ER visit.
Re: asthma
Did you ask your ped about seeing an allergist/asthma doc? I would totally recommend it.
Oh good. ARe you seeing the one M does? We have a follow up appt on Thurs.
I have definitely heard of people cutting out dairy for asthma type symptoms. You might want to consider seeing a naturopath as well to see about other foods that might be helpful.
I hope you find something that helps...
I was diagnosed with Asthma at 18 months [and a scary ambulance ride]. Apparently corn was one of my triggers/allergies, so my parents had to cut ALL corn out of my diet until I was older. I did grow out of it within a few years, but my folks said id'ing it and cutting it out helped. Not sure if they cut dairy too, but I can vouch for the fact that some things you wouldn't think of as Asthma allergens do exist.
