  You really need to do breast compresions if you are not already. I use the freestyle and it is much more effective and efficient when I pump hands free (I use a sport bra that's a bit tight with holes cut for the nips).  When I push or massage a different area of my breast, milk will gush out even though it was like a trickle before.  As soon as the flow starts to slow press the letdown button again- I do mine at about 7 or 8 minutes.

  Also, make sure your parts are completely bone dry before use.  If they get even a bit damp, I notice a drop in efficiency. I would check to make sure the membranes are not damaged in any way as well.  If it does need new parts, I know BRU sells a spare parts kit, I am not sure if medela would sell the membranes seperately, but you could always call.  They have sent me parts for free and overnighted them with no shipping charge when I had a problem.

  Have you changed the membranes? That should help with suction.

  Call Medela.  They sent me a new pump for free when I had the same prob with my freestyle.

  I agree with making sure the parts are really dry.  I notice my freestyle doesn't have the proper suction if the parts were damp when I stuck them together.  Also, try popping the parts apart just on the top of it and quickly snapping back together while you are using it; sometimes that fixes it for some reason.  Or take the tube out and put your finger over it to create a good suction, then stick it back.
