Snarky and T-TTC

WWSTTTCD?

So, this is my final hail Mary IVF, and work has been less than kosher. In fact, work downright sucks and there is a chance I will be canned by the end of July. I am thinking about taking time off between ER and Beta because of the stress of being at work and dealing with all the crap. Of course, because I am close to being canned, I can't take vacation time. I spoke with HR and they said I can go on leave and get paid a week of vacation during the 1 week waiting time, and then I would be on disability pay, which looks like about $795 a week. Not bad. Plus, any time taken off on leave extends the date I could be cut by the same amount of time.

BUT since H is unemployed, I wonder if we can afford it. Of course, if I get canned it's not like we can afford anything anyway. CA girls - do you know how long it takes to get your disability checks? What would you do?

Re: WWSTTTCD?

  • That's a tough one. If you think it will make you feel better having the time off, I think I would do it. Being stress free is worth it.  Will you be losing your job anyway? If you're going to lose your job regardless, I'd definitely go ahead and take the time off.

This. But if you're fired you can get unemployment, no?

This is basically what I was going to say. If you can afford it, I say do it! Good luck!

  • And sorry, I don't know how long disability checks take. Just clarifying-you would initially be on disability right? Then if they fire you, you would begin getting unemployment right?

Basically, I have been given an unrealistic goal to hit in the time frame they gave me. I think they (my bittchy boss mainly) are trying to push me out, my husband thinks that they are trying to motivate me with scare tactics and they have no intention of firing me. The time I am on leave extends my deadline for the goal. My only concern is losing sales while I am gone, but I was going to talk to the benefits person as well as HR to express my concern and offer to work from home to take care of any incoming clients. I don't know how it will shake out exactly, but I'm kinda over it anyway. I like my job, I just hate my boss and she is the one that stresses me out.

Well your boss sucks! If you can work some from home that would be a nice option. I say take the time off. If your deadline extends maybe it will help just getting away from your boss for awhile and they'll see how valuable you are. Good luck with whatever you do decide to do.

  • I would definitely take the time off.  It would give you some free time to look for a new job.

Since your boss is abitch and she's what stresses you out, how awesome would it be to up your numbers while working from home?

    Good luck.
