I'm getting to my wit's end with the toys and STUFF around the house that is pretty much homeless.
We have a few bins, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone have suggestions for toy/book storage in the living areas of your home? My kids rarely play in their room, so there really aren't any toys/storage in there...it'd all end up in the rest of the house anyway!
If you have pictures that'd really be great.
Re: toy and book storage
I LOVE using those big cubicle things. We have one in dark wood in our living room, and we have tan fabric storage cubes in most of the cubbies to hold toys. We also have open storage for books on some. Since most of the toys are in the fabric cubes, you can't see them -- so you wouldn't know there are toys inside. Plus, I can pull out ONE cube at a time to control the mess, lol. Let me see if I can find a picture of something similar online.
ETA: This is similar to what we have, except ours is stained dark brown.
I love our IKEA storage unit we got...sturdier boxes would have been a good investment, but we are cheap. They are holding up ok, but will definitely need to be replaced at some point.
I have this from onestepahead.com
and this from home depot to match my furniture, i have two of them but I lay them sideways and use up all the bins...
I'm crazy cheap. AND I love a great excuse to make a trip to Ikea - which for me is over an hour away but WELL worth it.
Great ideas! Thanks!!!

We have the shelf on top, 3 bins on the bottom. Oh, and I have 3 baskets and a lamp on the very top. Can't say enough good things about it.
We have this same one. It holds a lot. We got baskets there, too. It works well to have the 4 baskets and 4 open ones to put books or stuff that is odd shaped. I want to get another one!

We got something very similar to this at Costco. I love it and am thinking of getting a second (mainly because I've turned the one I got for DS's toys into file storage!).
