Trying to Get Pregnant

Dollar Tree EPT Test Question

Alright so I went to the dollar store yesterday and picked up a couple of cheap EPT tests and was wondering if anybody else has used them and observed they don't say anywhere on them if you can test 6 days before missed period or not?  I am not due to start until Sunday and I tested this morning and it was BFN but after reading the box not sure of the accuracy.  Aren't all tests different with accuracy or are they all the same?

Again I know I am not out until AF shows just curious if anybody had any insight.  HAPPY 4th of July to all

Re: Dollar Tree EPT Test Question

  • Five years ago I found out I was pregnant well before my missed period using the Dollar Tree tests.  I don't know about any specific guidelines for those but I know it detected the pregnancy very early for me.

  • One of the million sites I've been on in the last week compares the different tests and how early they got a positive result.  The dollar tree ones were actually one of the first ones to get a positive test, I'm think 8 DPO. I'll do some checking see if I can find it!

  • Actually, the dollar tree tests are one of the most sensitive.  I believe the most sensitive is the First Response Early Result (FRER).

Are you charting so you know when you actually ovulate? If not, I suggest you do so you know when AF is actually due.  Even the most regular people have an 'off' cycle where they ovulate late or not at all.  Unfortunately, this cycle always seems to occur when you start TTC.

  • Thought this chart was interesting.  Did not mention Dollar tree brand but I will look at the box again tonight to see if it shows the sensivity.

  • "6 days before your missed period" is an advertising scheme. It all depends on when you ovulate and how long your LP is.  If you have an average LP of 12 days "6 days before your missed period" would show getting a + test on 7DPO.  Implantation usually occurs between 7-10 days past O.

  • Hm.  Everywhere I have seen about sensitivity before seeing the link above has said that the Dollar Store tests are 25, not 50.
