What can I do with this swing?

We got a portable/travel swing for Ali, which we stored in the attic between kiddos. When we pulled it down last week, I found that the fabric on the bottom of the swing was destroyed by heat...it's paper thin and disintegrates under your finger when you touch it. (It's not the part that a kid would sit on...it's the underside of the seat.) I contacted the company but the swing has been discontinued, so they can't send me a replacement fabric.

Is there anything I can do with this swing? I hate to trash it b/c it's practically brand new (Ali never liked it). Can I donate it in that condition? A home-remedy fix of some sort??

Dear Bump: You suck.

  • I find that half decent things I put out on the curb during daylight hours before trash day have a way of disappearing before the trash guys come. I've actually seen a guy with a flatbed trailer trolling around my hood on more than one occassion. My FIL is an avid garage sale shopper and says that's how some people help make ends meet. They just pick up tons of curb stuff (or free craigslist items) and have a garage sale like once a month.

  • The bottom of our Jumperoo is falling apart like that. Ebay has replacement seats. Have you checked Ebay?

Also ... if it's still safe to use, you could probably Craigslist it and have money towards a new one. Like I said, our Jumperoo has fabric falling apart, but it's just the ouside decorative layer. There's nothing compramised as far as the actual seat. So I bought it off Craigslist for $20 and it's worked like a charm. Olivia doesn't mind that the underside doesn't look pretty.

  • I second Taytee, I always put stuff out on my curb and it never ends up going in the trash. You could also post it on the free section on CL and then just leave it outside.
