Positive FFN

I will be 28 weeks on Friday and have been in the hospital with early labor symptoms since 4 am on Tuesday. Contractions pretty much since I got here. They have me on medicine every 4 hours to help my uterus calm down but they haven't completely stopped yet. I am about 1 cm dilated but the doc isn't too concerned yet since I have 2 stiches in from a cerclage. I have had the steroids (second dose was this am) to make my baby's lungs are fully developed. I tested positive for the fetal fibronectin test when I got in. My doc said I have a 25% chance of going into labor in the next 2 weeks and that I might not make it to full term. Full bed rest and wheelchair if I go out and possibly a full weekend stay here. My question is, anyone test positive for the FFN and go full term? Or did you still go early?? Thanks for any stories you may have about yours or someone else's experience.

    I'm sorry you're in this position. I know it's scary :( I don't know the answer to your question but I wanted to tell you that I got a positive result on the fFN 3 weeks ago. The dr was sure I'd have gone into labor by now, but so far so good. So have hope because not everything can be predicted! You just may have a full-term or close to full-term baby after all. Hang in there!

    Thank you for the response. It is scary and nervewracking cause you're just not sure what to expect. But whatever happens, happens. Good luck to you as well- you are in my prayers.

    my understanding is that the FFN is not supposed to be tested for on women who  have not had a cerclage, that is one of the main reasons for a false positive reading

    80% of women who get a positive FFN make it to term. I had a positive FFN and I am 34.5 weeks. Good luck. Hopefully you can get those contractions under control.
