NBR: Crafty Mamas-Help with my new pad

I am so impressed by how creative and crafty you ladies are. I can not get those two-tone book shelves out of my head, not to mention everything on the crafty check in.

So we are moving from a furnished place to an unfurnished place and making an effort to get a lot of stuff second hand in order to put our money into larger items (like an awesome mattress!)

I am looking for small living room ideas. We are mostly finding things on craigslist and re-doing them. I can sew and I am hoping that I can paint! DH can do basic handy work.

Anyways- we picked up these 2 solid wood items yesterday and I am looking for refinishing ideas. We will buy brown leather couches for the room, the floor is wood- but otherwise we have no colour pallet picked out. I am leaning towards that cool two-tone paint job on the coffee table- but I'm not sure...

Any ideas or inspirations?

That is stunning!! I love that style and look. I just sent it to my DH and we are going to comb craigslist for a table like that to redo for the kitchen..wow.

  • oh my gosh don't paint it! it's beautiful... if I was you I would re-do it more like a distressed coffee table.  if you feel like you need to add color, you can always add a glass piece on top, and put something under the glass, like a piece of artwork, or fabric.

Not changing the table was my first thought, too, but I kind of like the idea of the fun color to pop. I probably wouldn't go for glass piece with something under, just because we'll all have babies running around and tugging on things soon. But I did think about applying a fun fabric on the inside of the cutouts. That would be easy, maintain the wood, but add a fun pop, all while hiding clutter inside. I personally am always inclined to not paint wood, unless it's a really weird one, though.
