Pasta salad recipe?

Anyone have a killer cold pasta salad recipe?

I have bow ties and sharp cheddar cheese, and want to put in cherry tomatoes (cheese and tomatoes will be the red and white, doubt anything yummy is blue for a pasta salad). I was looking for something a little better than a bottle of italian dressing....but will do that if it's best.

If I should just do above, what else should I add? Any other patriotic ideas for yummy sides to a deli tray/sandwiches?

Re: Pasta salad recipe?

  • I make a really good pasta salad w/ a bottle of Ken's Light Sun-dried Tomato dressing. It's really good. In mine I use whatever type of pasta I have, those tiny fresh mozzarella balls (from the olive bar at Wegs), thin sliced red onion, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach leaves and a little parm cheese. But I bet the dressing would be good on any pasta salad... especially if you plan on using tomatoes, it will compliment the flavor.

  • I make mine with Marzetti's Sweet Italian dressing, then add a little extra oil and vinegar.  Everyone always loves it.
  • I use tri-color rotini, Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar, pepperoni, red and green pepper, and Ken's Lite Northern Italian w/Romano dressing. Delicious!

  • My Mom and Aunt made an awesome pasta salad for A's party-bowtie pasta, provolone cheese, black olives, chick peas, mini pepperoni, pepperoncini, grape tomatoes, and some yellow pepper. My aunt made an italian dressing to put on it with olive oil, balsamic, garlic and a touch of sugar....delish!
