As some of you may know, I had my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I had some crazy sensitivity on a molar on the side that my teeth were pulled. I went to the bathroom and it appeared that some of the enamel around the filling in that tooth had come off.
I called the dentist in a panic and got in today. Apparently my tooth has always looked like that??? There is nothing wrong, except that there is some gum receding from that tooth (likely from the instruments they used to do the extraction) and I am feeling some discomfort from the exposed nerves. ![]()
I just spent 24 hours stressing that I was going to have to shell out $1500 for a crown. ![]()
If you made it this far, feel free to recommend a looney bin. I need a new residence.
Re: I am officially CRAY!
Lol, I am paranoid about my teeth as well. I have had some issues and any little sensitivity I feel, I am afraid I am going to have to have a root canal. Those things are not cheap!
ETA: Oh, and if the sentist didn't already prescribe you some toothpaste for sensitivity or suggest a toothpaste to get, check out sensodyne. It works for me - I have receeding gum lines as well.

You aren't kidding!! I had one done....$150 for the root canal and $350 for the crown and that was AFTER insurance! That was done almost 4 years ago and I was told that I need to replace the crown because the one I have now wasn't placed very good
Ya that's another $350 out of my pocket!
No they aren't.
I use it religiously!
Confession: I was more worried about not being able to pay for whatever route we take with the RE than I was my tooth!
Ha! I think it's too late for that!!
I would have done the same thing. I am always scared with that kind of stuff especially if it hurts! Matter of a fact I have to call my dentist because I think I screwed up my jaw playing football almost a month ago. Guess you aren't supposed to catch the ball with your jaw and boobs...oh well. lol.
No need for the looney bin...but if you get some good rec's let me know, I may need one rather soon!
Haha its ok, I
you and your awesomeness anyway!
I begin testing at the end of this month...who know what it will bring or if I will be referred to a RE, but thinking about it makes me nervous. I haven't checked my insurance, but I doubt it covers much, if anything. I wish things weren't so pricey. I feel your pain.
I have these nightmares too. I have a mouth full of fillings that were highly likely unnecessary from my childhood dentist. I have a dentist phobia to put it mildly. I have not had a cavity in the 12 years I've been going to this dentist except the one that necessitated getting my wisdom teeth pulled.
