Re: s/o dietary changes

  • I do zumba and some light weight lifting. Last summer I did C25K and lost 30 lbs, but hated every minute of running... but 30 lb weight loss might be worth it again. Big Smile

  • I've done a little of everything over the years (typical gym stuff, running, bootcamp workouts, working out with a trainer), and the best thing I've found is CrossFit. I started a few months ago and I am loving it.  I do it about 4 days a week, then do other things another 1-2 days a week (longer run, hiking, biking, etc.).  The combination of cardio with the heavier weight lifting has been awesome for my body's shape and ability to maintain my happy weight.

  • I work out 5x/week and eat generally very healthy. I believe in everything is ok for you in moderation. If I have pasta for dinner, it is whole wheat and I won't have bread that day etc..

My workouts are a mix of cardio and weight training. I like to mix it up when it's nice out by hiking, biking, rock climbing, etc.

DH recently did Weight Watchers and lost 50lbs (check out my blog for his review if you want) and lost the weight in less than 6 months. He did it because he loves food and didn't want a restrictive diet because he knew he wouldn't follow it.

    1st BFP- March 2011. Natural MC @ 8 weeks
2nd BFP- July 2011.  Chemical Pregnancy
3rd BFP- Sep 2011. My beautiful son was born May 2012.
    4th BFP-August 2014- Due May 12, 2015

  • I have started to do Yoga three days a week and interval training for 45 min/5 days a week. I just finished my first month of my new exercise plan and I already feel so much better and have lost 15 pounds.

I too love food, especially pasta & bread, so I have to work out to keep my weight under control.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

This is pretty much what I've done as well.  My favorite workouts are bootcamp classes.  Great mix of cardio and weight training.  I'm with ya on the pasta thing... I seriously can't live without it.  Last year though, I switched to whole wheat or spinach pasta and cut down on the cream sauces.  Definitely helped with weight loss.

  • I am always 'hesitant' to diet, as I am afraid of being so restricted and hungry. I am a person who really struggles with moderation. However, I am pretty strong willed so once I commit to healthy eating, I usually never go astray. I have just started the South Beach diet, I am doing phase one, which is pretty restrictive (no fruit, dairy, sugar,or carbs) but it is only for two weeks. I am eating 6 little meals a day, and never feel hungry. During this phase you can lose up to 12 lbs, and then move on to the other phases with a more gradual weight loss or maintenance. There are three phases in the diet. The last (phase three) is the transition to eating 'normal' again, with no restrictions, instead teaches you moderation in order to maintain the weight lost.
