gross bath toys

Some of DS's bath toys have nasty greenish black mold/mildew stuff on them.  What should I use to clean them?  Should I soak them in bleach and soap?  TIA

Re: gross bath toys

  • Eh. I've tried a bleach and water soak and run them through the dishwasher. It seems like once they get a little yuck though, it goes downhill quickly. I just replace when I see mildew or mold.

  • Yeah, id just replace them.. it seems like once the mold gets in and on there.. it comes back just as fast once you get some of it off.

  • They Have Mold free ones at Babies R us.

We just spent $100 gift card on bath toys because we were tired of buying/throwing them out and the kids love the bath so mold free toys is what we got. They were pricey $6-7 per toy but hopefully they will last longer then 6 months which is what the cycle has been

  • I tried in vain to clean DD's moldy bathtub toys and the mold always just grows back. I finally tossed them I was sick of cleaning them over and over to no avail.  Good to know there are mold-free toys now!

  • I gave up on bath toys. We use cups and buckets. I can soak them in bleach if I need to and they never get moldy. Nothing with little holes in like the blow toys.

  • I usually mix bleach and water and soak them for half hour
